Black Bottle Scotch Whiskey Jazz Festival 2002
Anyone who feels able to refer to themselves as a guitarist, would have done well to have attended the Preston Reed concert in Islay House on Friday evening, or even the workshop held in the Mactaggart CyberCafe on Saturday afternoon. Having failed to read the programme properly I was expecting a guitar trio. The frightening thing was that I, and the audience, experienced pretty much that, despite there being only one musician playing. Reed is a very intimidating, but very pleasant, American guitarist who stands well over six feet tall, and plays with a particularly unorthodox guitar style. Mr Swanson was heard to remark that his house would be warm on Fiday night since he was off home to burn his guitars. Many, many CDs were sold après gig. |
